Name: Dagmar JerabkovaHow do you see the market research industry evolving and how can you contribute to it?
The market research constantly evolves. I would like to mention the most important aspects that changing the focus and methodology of market research.
Way of communication. Mobile phones and laptops are part of our lives these days as radio was for example in 80s and obviously percentage of its users grows every year. The users are spending more and more time on internet and social networks. Market research must adapt to these needs. Change in society. Nowadays, for example not only European society is typical of growing share of retired people, singles of divorced, immigrants etc. Changing in society has impact on consumer behaviour. Also the economy has contribution on evolving of market research. Global brands have mostly pushed out domestic brands of local market. Retailer chains has bigger market share every year. All of these aspects can affect decision making process, buying behaviour and finally the whole concept of the market research.
I can contribute by deep insight in consumer behaviour, monitoring of changes in the retail outlet and by customization of research – tailoring to the individual need of client.
What are, in your opinion, the necessary skills for market researchers in the present environment? From my point of view the most important skills are the understanding of a new media and their technology and their potential for collecting data, knowledge of sociological and psychological aspects of consumer behaviour and theoretical and practical mastery in statistics.
How do you see your career unfolding and what are your aspirations?I would like to utilize my acquired skills, work experience and also the theoretical knowledge that I gained on the university and get a job in marketing focused on a research. From my point of view, the Czech Republic doesn´t offer many opportunities so I also rely on a possibility of working abroad. I would like to find a job in this field immediately by the time I will have finished my master degree at Marketing and Business on VSB Technical University of Ostrava in the Czech Republic. The final state exam is will be probably held in June 2012. I think I have ability and motivation to done everything I described above so I hope that I will be given a chance to prove it.
