2. Industry wants clarity on international data transfer

International businesses must rise to the challenge of how to manage international data transfer efficiently while complying with rules from 25 different EU regimes when processing data. The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) has produced alternative standard contractual clauses for data transfers between controllers. This was approved by the EC and is now the de-facto industry standard.

Impact on market research

Market research companies need to ensure that they maintain data protection rights when personal data are transferred from the country in which they are collected to another country and that all reasonable steps have been taken to ensure that adequate security measures are observed.
