FUTURE TALENT MEETS THE INDUSTRY

ESOMAR Congress 2007

Name: Anne Høj Pedersen

Nationality: Danish

Year of birth: 1982

University: Aarhus School of Business

Title of course/programme: Master of Science in Business Administration and Marketing

Professional/career ambitions:

Ever since I started studying one of my primary characteristics have always been to set new goals, and work hard to achieve them. I am highly interested in the market research area as well as in international business-to-business marketing and will strive to combine the two in my future job. I have a desire to work in an international company, since the challenges offered are far-reaching and I see great opportunities to gain experience within several areas of marketing. Finally the possibilities for expatriation are good within a large company, which is also one of my future career ambitions. Going abroad to work for a period of time can give me valuable experiences and insight that I will be able to use in many future career positions. All in all I will always take the challenges offered to me and never settle for the second best.

Interest in Market Research:

Market research is a field within marketing in which my interest has grown since I first started working with it. This is first of all due to its increased importance in all companies, where no manager should just consider it an asset – it must be considered a necessity. Furthermore I find MR very interesting to work with, since several skills are needed in order to come up with useable market research data, results and not least conclusions. Being adaptable, creative and dynamic are very important skills when working in this field. Furthermore good communication and analytical skills as well as the ability to build long lasting relationships are crucial when combined with great decision-making skills. This makes working within this field more challenging and demanding then it may first appear. Furthermore it must also be taken into consideration that the business environment in which the research is performed is constantly changing, which leads to a continuous evolvement of new areas of research and especially new areas of research methods.

Final word on Market Research:

Knowing what to sell, how to sell it, when to sell it, where to sell it and why to sell it is inevitable no matter what industry a company finds itself in – this is what makes Market Research indispensable!
