Hot Topics - Developments in Pricing within Europe
Phyllis Macfarlane of GfK-NOP and Wlodek Daab of 4P research mix examined some of the recent developments in pricing for Europe in the last ESOMAR Global Prices Study.
Some of their findings included:
- Demand is growing for broader research that provides insight and context across the market
- On major trackers the emphasis is on cost-efficiency with the money saved being used to add more budget into reporting and analysis
- Online data collection is growing rapidly, and in western Europe, Web2.0 and online qualitative is also growing driven by the new possibilities offered by Web2.0 technology as well as speed and price benefits
- With prices having hit rock bottom in central Europe, researchers are now competing on value added research services
- The greatest cost reductions are coming from automation, the move to online and off-shoring back office functions to low cost countries
- The main drivers of rising operating costs are fieldwork costs – in particular interviewer fees – and as competition for talent heats up – salaries at all levels are rising
