FUTURE TALENT MEETS THE INDUSTRY

Asia Pacific 2008

Name: Hsiao-Han Hung

University: National Sun Yat-Sen University

Title of course/programme: B.A., Business school, specialization in Business Management (Major in Marketing)

1. How do you see the market research industry evolving and how can you contribute to it?

I think market research has become more important in recent years. Customers these days are wiser in choosing products therefore market is becoming more and more competitive each year. Market research could help the company evaluate their marketing campaigns so the company can make the right decisions. For two years I have been conducting research on China Steel Corporation’s customer satisfaction. I helped CSC evaluate their past year’s performance. My analysis then indirectly improved it’s performance the next year.

As a college student, I think the best way for me to contribute to this industry is to learn how everything works in the industry.

2. What are in your opinion the necessary skills for market researchers in the present environment?

Basic math and statistic skills I believe are necessary for market researchers. Others like experiences, logical thinking, and good communication skill are also important.

3. How do you see your career unfolding and what are your aspirations?

I am now a senior student in college, and soon I will graduate and start fresh for the next stage in my life. My plan is to work as an AE in the advertising company for one year and then pursue my master degree in United States in integrated marketing communication. My goal is to work for globalize companies like Coco Cola, Unilliver. Big companies make people think big. I want to be a marketing planner, because creativity is what makes anything possible.
