Workshop overview

The growth rate of online research in recent years has been exponential. With that growth have come questions about quality.

ESOMAR was the first organization to release a Guideline on Conducting Research on the Internet in 1998. In 2005, ESOMAR published an updated Guideline, including a set of 25 questions which were designed to help providers and users talk about the quality issues of online panels. The questions have been widely adopted by the industry and now provide the basic format which access panel providers use to describe and label their products. In April 2008 ESOMAR published a drastically updated version of the questions (E26), incorporating recent developments in online sampling and in the technology of panel management.

The aim of this workshop is to fully understand the background and goal of the questions and to continue the quality debate. You can expect to:

  • Gain insights on the background of the questions and the process how the updated version has been designed.
  • Understand how the questions should best be used as seller, as well as buyer of online sample.
  • Understand other industry initiatives addressing the quality of online sample/panels and their purpose and relevance.
  • Explore how new technologies, like river sampling, will have an effect on the quality debate.
  • Discuss and give input on how ESOMAR should continue it’s efforts to support the quality debate.

The workshop is designed for buyers as well as sellers on online sample.
