Global standards for a global industry

Representatives from nearly 30 countries worked together to develop an International Standard (ISO) for market research.

The ISO 20252 norm for market, opinion and social research was approved in February and launched in May this year. 22 member countries sat on the technical committee and their national ISO institutions unanimously voted in favour of its adoption. Countries involved in developing the norms represent around 90% of the global market research market.

Who is ready for the ISO norm?

  • September 2007: Quality infrastructures differ widely between countries, some already have a hallmark quality group of institutes that all work under the same standards whilst others might have just a rudimentary operational quality standard in place.

    Here is an overview presented at a panel session organised by ESOMAR and EFAMRO on how ISO 20252 is being implemented in six countries worldwide and by a global company.
