Ioannis (John) Dimopoulos was until recently Senior Vice President and Global Director of Market Research at Reckitt Benckiser plc - the world leader in household cleaning (excluding laundry) and a major player in Health & Personal Care. He resigned this post to return to Australia in May 2007, and has become a freelance consultant working with Global Suppliers and Client companies within the MR industry.
Originally from Australia, John transferred to the UK in Jan 2000 when he was appointed to lead the Global Market Research Function following the merger (Dec 1999) of Reckitt & Colman plc and Benckiser BNV. With a Business Degree Major in Marketing (1987 University of New South Wales - Australia), John has worked on the client side of the Market Research Industry for over 19 years.
His first role was at Procter & Gamble, which he joined in Jan 1988 working across all the categories in their Australia & NZ operation, as well as the ASIA Region where in 1995-96 he held market research responsibility for the Pantene Brand and Hair Care Conditioner Development.
Looking for a new challenge, he joined Reckitt & Colman plc in Feb 1997, and became a member of the newly formed Global Market Research Leadership Team. In this role, he was responsible for the Australia & NZ Region across both Household & Pharmaceutical business units, and was appointed market research member of the Global Pest Control Category Team. In Oct 1998 his role expanded to include East Asia.
During the merger discussions (late 1999), John played a key role in helping to influence the structure and role of the market research function, which led to his current appointment.
