Leendert van Meerem
Managing Director, Intomart GfK Group, Netherlands
Since 1991 Joint Managing Director of Intomart and since 2001 Managing Director of what is now the Intomart GfK Group, the holding company for Intomart GfK in the Netherlands, and GfK AUDIMETRIE and Significant GfK in Belgium.
Studied Psychology at the University of Amsterdam. First real job in 1975 as researcher at the Research Institute for the Applied Psychology of the University of Amsterdam.
Joined Intomart in 1980 as Coordinator of Radio and Television Research, later Director of the Media Research division.
Researcher by origin became a manager of researchers. Learned later in life that there is more in market research than Media Research only, and that other disciplines sometimes can be even more challenging. Has held numerous presentations at media conferences all over the world about media research, was member of several conference committees in the Netherlands and abroad. Past president of the Dutch organization of professionals in commercial communication (MWG). Past president of the Dutch foundation for the promotion and optimisation of television advertising (SPOT).
Hobbies: Since his youth an enthusiastic sailor. The first thing he does in foreign cities is to find antique shops with pre-war wind-up tin toys. (For Dublin, hints are welcome)
