FUTURE TALENT MEETS THE INDUSTRY
BACKGROUND
ESOMAR previously worked with the Tanaka Business School (Imperial College London) on an MBA-oriented project. The project was successful and resulted in a 20 minute presentation at the ESOMAR Congress 2006 in London. This concept is an extension of the original project in that it looks to involve students with ESOMAR while presenting market research as a serious career choice.
HOW DOES THIS FIT WITH THE DEVELOPING TALENT?
The goals behind Developing Talent have been constantly validated and upheld by the industry leaders and academics world wide:
“The biggest issue we face is to do with upskilling our talent base” Eric Salama (ESOMAR Industry Report 2005)
These ideas were again reinforced at the 2007 Win meeting in Valencia by Thomas Inglesant of Givaudan S.A. “It’s difficult to attract and retain the brightest talent because it’s (MR – ed) seen as boring.”
In a survey conducted by ESOMAR in September 2004, the question “What would you do to enhance the course for the future?” was asked of 73 academics within Western Europe. Their open ended replies called for “practical implementations,” ”understanding of managerial implications” . This strong call for business to support and involve themselves in the academic environment is yet another strong strategic reason to have a concept which actively crosses the barrier between academics and business.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO PARTICIPATE?
All Universities and Business schools internationally are able to participate. The trial run of this concept was held at out Annual Congress 2007 in Berlin where the following academic institutions took part:
- Birmingham University Business School
- Cranfield University
