Since joining Harris Interactive in 1999, Randall K. Thomas has been responsible for the company’s survey design methodology, with a specific concentration on web-based surveys. To accomplish this, he has focused on factors determining the reliability and validity of measurement in over two hundred and fifty experiments, with many of the results reported at national and international conferences and in publications. He has established both a systematic project staff training program and a thorough survey review system through which he and his team can monitor and improve the methodological soundness of all survey projects at the company. He has also been involved in hundreds of studies that have transitioned surveys from one mode to another and has overseen the parallel administration for many of them in order to determine the effects of mode and sample on the transition.Prior to joining Harris Interactive, Randall was a college professor in social psychology. His research program involved experimental investigations of survey design effects in attitude, intention, and behavior measurement for such topics as consumer behavior, organizational assessment, political values, and personality structure.
