Sharing Best Practice in Stellenbosch
ESOMAR was delighted to have the opportunity to support this year’s South African Market Research Association (SAMRA) conference that took place at the Spier Wineries in Stellenbosch. Our participation was organised by ESOMAR Representative for South Africa, Leonie Vorster, who also took the opportunity to host a members meeting alongside the conference. Members discussed ESOMAR’s activities for the coming year and areas for potential synergy with the local industry.
The local industry, although not entirely unique, has also shown some innovation when applying methodologies from the developed world in a developing economy context and sharing this with other ESOMAR members will become increasingly important, not just for benchmarking purposes, but also to ensure seamless global service delivery to research clients.
On the event itself, Leonie continued: “The ESOMAR members at the meeting made a number of suggestions that would benefit both the local members and ESOMAR. Suggestions were made not only for local members to meet more frequently, through online means if perhaps, but also for webinars, training and regional workshops in South Africa. Members expressed a need for case studies and best practice input from international experts, their continued support of and participation in the annual ESOMAR Industry Survey, and increasing professional practice involvement.
The ESOMAR Professional Standards material at the ESOMAR exhibition stand was very well-received by delegates here, and we hope to generate new membership from the keen interest shown.”
As a result of this successful event this meeting will now become a standing item on the annual conference agenda.
