Healthcare

Review

We asked some of the participants what they thought of the event. Here’s what they said:

Anumita Sharma, Third Eye, UK

"I really enjoyed Healthcare. The intimate atmosphere generated a lot of discussion as everyone felt comfortable. I learned lots of new technological things to take back to my work. The event provided a great opportunity for market researchers to talk about the trust factor in the pharmaceutical industry. I believe that client companies are very dedicated but it is also connected with how we present what we can do in a better way. One suggestion for a future event is that you think about including at least one presentation about the role of alternative versus traditional medicine and holistic approaches."

Barbara Busch, ANALYSIS Scent International, Switzerland

"I loved the last session of the Healthcare event. The fact that one of the speakers went beyond the healthcare industry to talk about cultural and ethical issues and the future of our society, has already given me a lot of food for thought. What I took away from this on a personal level is that we are all required to say what we think we is right and this means that in our industry we should combine personal involvement with the business side of our industry. I’ve visited a lot of ESOMAR conferences but this one was more important than most."

Antoine Driessen, Heart Surgeon, Netherlands

"I came to the conference to present a study. I knew that market research was different and is changing but I was really surprised to see that it is a lot more solid and scientific than just to do with the fast marketing guy in the smart suit. I found the presentation by Sabena really interesting, as they tried to find a different approach on how to reach people, something I can use in my own work. The talk by Pfizer was a real eye opener. Many people think that pharmaceutical companies are just out to make money from patients but I realise now there are a lot of good people in the business who also want to help people, and this is something that is seldom understood."

Michel Bequer, On Target, Mexico

"I’m a new ESOMAR member and this is a new world for me. I found the Healthcare event provided a lot of information that will be good for growing and sharing. The networking is great but in addition, it was really interesting to learn how things are being done elsewhere and about the main problems we are facing as an industry. There is a strong crisis in the US about trust but this could also come to emerging markets such as Mexico. We discussed how we need to deal with more demanding clients and how we as researchers can be outstanding and provide deep analysis whilst keeping costs low and reducing delivery times."
