Roland Heiler
Managing Director, Porsche Design
Roland Heiler is Managing Director of Porsche Design Studio in Austria. He is also a Member of the Industrial Designer Society of America as well as of the German Design Council.
As Managing Director of the Porsche Design Studio, Mr. Heiler is responsible for the design signature for all products sold under the Porsche Design brand. These include classic men’s accessories such as timepieces, eyewear, pocket knives, writing tools, luggage and leather goods, as well as smoking accessories and shoes. This product range has been extended to include fashion, sport, furniture and electronic products. In addition to its work on behalf of the Porsche Design Group, the studio is involved in the development of industrial and product design
for other companies.
As of 2007 Roland Heiler is also member of the management team of Porsche Design Group. The company, a majority-owned subsidiary of Porsche AG, is based in Germany. Its activities are focused on the business areas Porsche Design, Porsche Design Driver’s Selection and the Porsche Design Studio.
After completion of a technical automotive apprenticeship at Porsche in Stuttgart Roland Heiler moved to London where he acquired a Masters Degree in Automotive Design at the Royal College of Art. Since 1984, he has held various positions as a designer at Porsche. In 1997, he joined Audi AG, Ingolstadt as head of exterior design. He returned to Porsche in 2000, where he became chief designer in the Porsche styling studio in Huntington Beach, California, before being made its director two years later.
