ESSENTIAL BRAND MEANING

The fragrance industry
Assessing opportunities and threats to the global market

Diana Dodson & Clare Lees

Abstract

At US$30.5 billion, the global fragrances market is one of the beauty category’s largest and with solid growth in 2001-2006, forecasts to 2011 are promising. Euromonitor International’s presentation in November will set the scene for the conference by demonstrating how strategic planners and marketers in the fragrances industry rely on all levels of research, including industry, country, consumer and economic, to guide their work. The paper will draw on Euromonitor International’s 2007 Cosmetics and Toiletries database and analysis, Food and Health and Wellness systems and newly launched Ingredients project, as well our Countries and Consumers database and economic and consumer trends analysis.

Euromonitor International will examine the major trends in the fragrances market, highlighting important new innovations and exploring the impact of consumer and economic drivers. Within this context, Euromonitor International will then close with an examination of the potential opportunities and threats to the market going forward.
