> More guidance on conducting research
My client cancelled a research project but I have already incurred costs in paying sub-contractors. What should I do?
- According to Rule 16 of the ICC/ESOMAR Code, the rights and responsibilities of researchers and clients will normally be governed by a written contract between the two parties. This contract should include the terms of cancellation and the duties and liabilities of client and researcher. This usually includes a sliding scale with charges increasing as the start of the project approaches. You should ask the client to respect these contractual terms and eventually you might need to take legal advice.
