ESOMAR is the world association for market, social and opinion researchers.
In 1947 public opinion researchers from several countries discussed and set the stage for ESOMAR at a conference in Paris. Eighteen months later at the first Congress in Amsterdam, ESOMAR was officially founded.
ESOMAR began as a regional association within Europe. Hence, the name ESOMAR was originally an acronym for European Society for Opinion and Market Research. Currently, with more than 4900 members in over 130 countries, ESOMAR’s global membership brings together professionals in market and opinion research, marketing, advertising, business, public affairs and media from across the world.
