The MetLife Building is one of Manhattan’s most iconic and recognizable skyscrapers, known for its intriguing structural concept and outright massive size. Completed in the 1960s, it was originally called the Pan Am Building, after Pan American World Airways – the building’s first major tenant – whose founder signed a 25-year contract for 15 floors of space. In the 1980s, MetLife bought the building, and eventually the name was changed. Standing 59 stories high, the MetLife Building is home to 3.1 million square feet of office space and was the largest commercial space in the world at the time of its opening. The building is located above Grand Central Terminal, and has been featured in a variety of feature films, music videos, tv shows, and even video games!
How to get to the MetLife Building We recommend using free mapping/transit services like Google Maps or Moovit.
