  13. A presentation of each candidate with their election statement and photograph will be available on the ESOMAR website once candidatures are announced.
  14. To ensure that no candidate is disadvantaged by canvassing activities of others and that the elections are run in a fair manner, all potential candidates will be asked to undersign an agreement to comply with the election rules set by Council, and to confirm that they will campaign in an open, honest and moderate fashion, as this reflects not only upon themselves but also upon ESOMAR.
The election procedure

Suggestions for nominations are invited by the Elections Committee for the two-year term of January 2019 to December 2020 with ten vacancies to be filled: President, Vice President and 8 Council Members. The suggestions for nomination form and other relevant information can be accessed in the right column of this page.

Candidates are allowed to canvas from the moment that their candidacy is announced, at the members' Annual General Meeting, until the opening of the voting.

The Elections Committee has appointed an independent, specialised organisation to conduct the elections, thereby guaranteeing that the elections remain impartial and benefit from the best available expertise. The appointed organisation, Multivote looks to increase engagement with the election process through it's tool to ensure that as many members as possible vote for the Council.

To improve the proportional representation of Membership, a procedure based on the Single Transferable Vote (STV) will be used. This gives every voter the fullest freedom of choice between candidates seeking election while ensuring that none of their voting power is diminished.

Council has taken the utmost care to ensure high participation in voting and that the elections are held in a transparent, democratic and fair way. Ballot forms will be emailed to all paid-up ESOMAR members in late September. The election will be carried out online only.

“Due to unanticipated business requirements, my ability to fulfill all of my Council obligations in the coming term is now unlikely (in the event of my successful election); I have therefore chosen to withdraw my candidature for the upcoming elections and hope to re-present myself for a future Council term."
