Young ESOMAR Society Pitch Competition

Back

Are you 35 or younger? Do you have something to say? Are you looking for an audience? Why not pitch your idea at one (or more!) of our international ESOMAR events?!

ESOMAR is excited to invite young researchers and students of research to take center stage at our upcoming global events. Get the opportunity to pitch your idea in 60 seconds on stage and the audience will vote on who will be asked back on stage to give their complete presentation Pecha Kucha* style!

How do you enter? Send us a 60 second video of your pitch for a specific event and the best pitches will be invited to attend the event and pitch their ideas on stage at the event. The audience will then vote and the top pitches have the chance to do their full Pecha Kucha* presentation!

Theme of the pitches is #visionary, daring you to look at our industry and the world in a different way, look beyond the possible and dream of a brave new future.

  • To pitch, you need to be of age 35 or younger;
  • If you are selected, you get 60 seconds on stage, extra exposure on our social media platforms and other communication channels. In addition to that, your YES membership will be covered.
  • Conditions: if you are chosen to pitch at an ESOMAR event, then you will need to be registered to attend the event. ESOMAR will cover your conference entrance fee (Congress is an exception; ESOMAR will cover part of your entrance fee, only for the day of your pitch).
  • The videos of the selected pitchers will be published online to encourage more submissions and to promote both the concept as well as the event, so get your ideas in fast! Your Pecha Kucha video will be shared after the event on our platforms. Feel free to share on other platforms as well!
  • Prepare a short 60-second video pitching your idea for a Pecha Kucha* presentation and submit it through the submission form available below.
  • The pitches must be recorded and delivered in English.
  • Be creative: use animations, graphics, photos, video, but also DO include yourself in the pitch so we can also be engaged by your body language and personality.
  • If you are selected, you'll be asked to record your actual Pecha Kucha* presentation on video as well and send it to us.
  • Deadline for submissions is 8 weeks before the selected event.
  • Once we have all of the submissions, ESOMAR will select the finalists to attend the event in question and will contact you with the great news! If selected, you will be one of a number of finalists selected to attend and pitch at the event.
  • Onsite, you will once again do the same 1-minute pitch on stage after which the event audience will be asked to vote on the pitches and the pitchers with most votes will be given the opportunity to do their full presentation Pecha Kucha* style as part of the event programme;
  • ESOMAR will provide on-site mentoring for the pitches (date and time tbc).

* PechaKucha or Pecha Kucha is a presentation style in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each (6 minutes and 40 seconds in total). The format keeps presentations concise and fast-paced.
