COVID-19: Our commitment to continued support

17 March 2020

As your global professional and trade association, we commit to continuing to support you now and in the coming months as the situation is revealed. We are very aware that some of you may be facing uncertain and difficult times; many of you in small and medium companies are in particular facing unparalleled and disquieting times.

While we must of course put the safety and health of our co-workers and research participants first to reduce any unnecessary strain on your country’s health systems (for advice see HERE), there are other things we can all do to help our profession through these trying times:

  • Let's display financial responsibility:
The economic impact of this pandemic on our sector will be disruptive and extensive. Our ecosystem is composed of many individuals and companies who may not have the financial resilience to survive those shocks. It's important for us all - clients, agencies, and suppliers - to work together to act responsibly in these difficult times. Think twice before cancelling projects and seek ways to adapt planned projects. If you can, think about your payment terms and their impact on the cash flow of smaller suppliers.

  • Let’s pool our collective brainpower:
Many of us have already experienced practical challenges... "Which platform can I use to make my team effective in working remotely? How do I take my face-to-face focus group online?"  We are all in this together; together we are stronger and more knowledgeable, so we are looking to share your concerns, guidance and creative solutions to the practical challenges we face. To facilitate this, we are organising a series of initiatives to listen to your challenges and work tirelessly to share them - and to crowd-source solutions that may help you through. Let us know what steps you are taking so we can share the best ideas to the whole community. Working together, we will provide best practice advice on how to come through this crisis as best we can. Please subscribe to our newsletter - if you have not already - to join the conversation!

Finally, while it's clear that doing research digitally in all markets can be a challenge, don't forget that we have a wealth of information and best practice guides to help ensure the success of digital research both in terms of getting online and in terms of maintaining the quality of what you. We have worked with the GRBN to produce guidelines and some useful links are here:

Also don’t forget that via our online library ANA you have access to other helpful papers, case studies, videos and content on mobile, online and remote research, for example this webinar, ESOMAR/GRBN International Online Research Webinar.
